Pelagic Shark Expedition - Trip # 1
February 2022
Baja sharks was the first trip of the 2022 season for us. It was a really good trip, the weather was fantastic all week for us, but the makos sadly were a no show. We did have silky sharks, a fly-by smooth hammerhead, and two very amazing blue sharks visiting us, and they made the trip unforgettable for us, but sadly the makos did not come in to say hi.
This was also the first 5-day pelagic shark expedition I ran, and I was super happy we did. It took a lot of work to bring in the sharks and our buddies Fer and Mathias kicked ass for us and killed it. Pelagic sharks are some of the most complicated sharks to chum in. Unlike coastal sharks, pelagics are world travelers and do not stay in one place. A blue shark tagged in California was captured off the coast of Japan. So these sharks are true nomads.
I kept a daily trip report from our experiences, and I am sharing the links here. The rest of this page will be dedicated to images captured during the trip. I hope you enjoy it.
