Episodes 63 - 66

Wild Minute. Episode 63.

Day one of our beaching orca trip. We spent the entire day searching, watching the tides, scanning the coastline, but the orcas were a no show.

That’s part of it. Some days, nothing happens.

So we made the most of it and finished the day photographing the penguin colony on the ranch. Not what we came for, but still a good way to end the day.

Day three. The orcas finally showed!

Pao and Shekei came through, gave us a quick pass… and sadly kept going.

They didn’t stay long, but after a couple of days of waiting, it was enough to know they were here.

Just a short glimpse, but a good one.

Day four.

It finally happened. After days of waiting, the orcas came in to hunt. We witnessed one successful predation, and a few missed attempts.

It was fast. Explosive. Over in seconds. And just like that…it was done.

Better than I imagined and the kind of moment you wait days for…and still wish lasted longer.

Wild Minute. Episode 66.
Today was our final day in Punta Norte. The winds and seas were too rough to get out, so we wrapped things up at the penguin colony. While searching for a good spot to photograph penguins in the morning light… we found hunting foxes.

Finally!

It was a great way to end the trip. Three weeks of magic, starting with the sei whales, and ending with the beaching orcas.

Patagonia and Argentina do not disappoint.
