Katmai Brown Bear Photography

Katmai National Park, Alaska
-DATE TBA-
- 6 SPOTS AVAILABLE -

There’s something that happens when you spend time alone with the brown bears in Katmai.

When the world is quiet, just the sound of the river and the occasional splash of a salmon leaping upstream.

When the golden light stretches across the tundra, and a bear lifts its head from the water, fish in its jaws, completely unaware, or maybe just unconcerned, that you’re there, watching, camera in hand.

That’s the magic of this trip.

Join us for a truly immersive bear photography experience in the remote wilderness of the Alaska Peninsula.

We’re not flying in for a quick glimpse.

We’re camping, living alongside the bears, sharing their days and nights, seeing moments that others miss.

We wake up with the bears.

We shoot all day, every lighting condition, every interaction, every unpredictable, wild, once-in-a-lifetime moment.

We’re not being shuttled back and forth daily…

We are in it.

This isn’t a tour. It’s an experience. And I’d love for you to be part of it.

TRIP ITINERARY

Arrival Day - DAY 1.
You can fly into King Salmon, Alaska (AKN) from Anchorage (ANC) on the Midday flight. Or arrive a day early to ensure no weather flight delays.

From there you will board a float plane and fly to Katmai National Park. Our bear guides will then take us to our camp site to drop off gear and settle in. After that we will head to the river to begin our first photography session with the bears.

*Camp is surrounded by a bear fence that is on 100% of the time and solar powered with a battery backup, we also spray the perimeter of camp daily with a cleaning agent that bears hate but is eco-friendly.

WILDLIFE DAYS - DAY 2-4 (3 Days).
We spend all day with the bears. We may or may not break for lunch, depending on the action. A possible 12 hours of shooting today, so bring plenty of batteries and extra cards for your cameras.

DEPARTURE DAY - DAY 5.
We wake up early, have breakfast, then head to the river for our final photo session of the trip.

At noon we will head back to camp to pack our gear and catch our float plane back to King Salmon, in time to catch the late afternoon flight (around 6PM), to Anchorage.
