THE WILD MINUTE
Grey Whales
Magdalena Bay, BajA MX.
February 7 - 12, 2026
EPISODES 39 - 42
Wild Minute Episode 39
Day One. Some days move slowly. This one did, until the very end.
After hours of searching for grey whales that wanted to play, with little to show for it, Baja did what Baja does best. As the day closed, one whale finally chose to engage, turning a quiet day into a moment that reminded us why patience matters out here.
This is Baja magic, never on schedule, always worth the wait.
Wild Minute Episode 40
Day 2. Some days make the waiting worth it.
Today we found three grey whales that wanted to play. What followed was nearly two hours in the water, interacting, drifting, and sharing space with whales that chose to stay.
It was an unforgettable day with good friends, and a moment where everything finally clicked. This is the magic of Baja, and this is why time spent with grey whales never gets old.
Wild Minute Episode 41
Day 3. Today we visited another bay to watch grey whales spy hop before heading into the open ocean to snorkel with a sea lion colony.
Right now there are hundreds of juvenile sea lions in the water, playful, curious, and impossible to ignore. The dive was full of energy, movement, and that kind of chaos that makes you laugh inside your mask.
Not every day in Baja is dramatic. Some days are just good fun days at sea… whales in the morning, sea lions in the afternoon, and salt on your skin by the end of it.
Wild Minute Episode 42
Day four, our final day with the grey whales delivered both magic and perspective.
A lone whale came in to play, giving us the kind of interaction you dream about in Baja. Later, offshore, we encountered a floating whale carcass, a stark reminder of the pressures facing this population.
Joy and weight in the same day. This is the wild as it is, beautiful, generous, and unforgiving.
