Wild Minute Episode 56.

Day one of our sei whale expedition.

We actually got a head start and went out the day before thanks to a perfect weather window… and we found them.

But the water didn’t cooperate.

Visibility was tough… really tough.

We were in the water with them, but not seeing them the way we wanted.

And that’s how this starts.

Wild Minute. Episode 57

Day two on the water.

We found whales… a lot of them.

Conditions were rougher today, and the visibility didn’t help.

Still tough. Still limiting what we could see.

But the whales showed up.

Playful sei whales circling the boat… making passes… giving us moments.

Wild Minute. Episode 58

Day three on the water.

High winds kept us in port most of the morning.

So we waited, and watched.

Hoped for a break.

And it finally came.

We got out late… but the afternoon delivered.

We found whales and had some solid time in the water.

Visibility is still a challenge.

But that’s been the story here.

You take the windows and the vis that you get.

We need this storm to go away and bring back the blue water.

Wild Minute. Episode 59

We went out early to beat the incoming weather.

Windy. Swelly. Not ideal.

But we went anyway.

We found whales.

And then something different happened.

A juvenile sei whale stayed with us.

It was super curious.

Circling the boat… coming in close… then pulling away.

Over and over.

Wild Minute. Episode 60

Weather kept us off the water today.

So we headed back to the beach.

And it turned into something special.

The elephant seals were active.

Young males everywhere… sparring, pushing, testing each other.

Practicing for the day they’ll challenge the big bulls.

After four straight weather days…

we finally got our window.

The ocean went flat.

A west wind moved in and started to clean up the water.

Visibility improved.

And the whales showed up.

A lot of sei whales…

and two players that made the day.

Wild Minute. Episode 62

Final day on the water.

The day before the whales wanted nothing to do with us.

We had an incredible swim with dusky dolphins but that was it.

Today was different.

Flat water.

Better visibility.

And whales… everywhere.

We had multiple sei whales around us, and a couple of players that made the day.

Pass after pass.

Moment after moment.

Everything finally came together.

It was easily one of the best days I’ve ever had in the water.
